The situation in Lebanon
Lebanon is now suffering a very critical situation following the military acts that have devastated its entire infrastructure and its strength.
- More than 5000 injured the wounds of which vary between handicap, serious and simple wounds.
- More than 3000 civilians dead following the aggression.
- 160 bridges linking the parts of Lebanon have been totally or partially destroyed.
- More than 15000 homes (apartments or houses) totally destroyed.
- More than 1200 vehicles destroyed.
- 1.300.000 refugees have fled their houses and land.
The role of Scouting in a crisis situation
Though it is not, as the first mission of scouting to act in a time of crisis, yet it is appreciated by the humanitarian organizations. The Scout Movement has already served next to the civil protection and the Red Cross during previous crisis in Lebanon. It has been known as very active in other parts of the world such ex-Yugoslavia, the Region of the Great Lakes.
